Tyler's research focuses on institutional design and management strategies for improving environmental governance in complex institutional settings. A primary component of this work involves the use of inferential network analysis methods for understanding network governance processes and stakeholder coordination. Scott also uses computational methods such as automated text analysis to generate novel data from procedural documents and agent-based modeling to simulate policy system behavior.
